This is a Burmese style Buddha. Shakyamuni Buddha is the historial Buddha who walked the paths of India approximately 2500 years ago and from whom all the various lineages of Buddhism originated.

Muni means sage, and shakya refers to the clan of his origin, Shakymuni Buddha is the ‘Sage from the Shakya clan”. His right hand in the earth-touching mudra signifies the time during his final meditations prior to attaining enlightenment, the ‘maras’ or evil forces were attempting to defeat him in his supreme goal. When asked ‘Who is your witness that you have attained these realizations?’  He put his hand to the earth and said, ‘The earth is my witness’. At which time, there was an earthquake.
